Simbrain is a program for Windows and Mac computers (it won’t run on Android, Chromebooks, or netbooks).

It is installed on all the tutorial rooms’ computers, but if you’d like to use it at home, you can download it here and see if it runs.

On Windows, it may trigger security warnings, requiring you to give the program administrator access, but that should be fine.

If you can’t run it, you’ll have to install Citrix Workspace so that you can run Simbrain via the University’s cloud.

1. Install Citrix Workspace

Instructions to install on a Mac.

Instructions to install on Windows.

When you get to steps 6, 7, and 8 of the above pages, they also tell you how to launch an app like Simbrain, but for clarity I’ve provided separate instructions for that next:

2. Log in with your browser and run Simbrain

Log in at https://uniconnect.cloud.com/. In you see a User name field, you should enter your UniKey in the format ‘shared\UniKey’, e.g. shared\ahol5532

uniconnect login

Search for Simbrain.

Double-click on it. This will try to launch Citrix Workspace on your computer (follow any instructions it may give you). Launching Citrix Workspace might take up to 30 seconds.

You should eventually see that Simbrain has opened, which should look something like this:

If you see the window above, congratulations! You are now ready to do the tutorial.

If not, you can ask your tutor for help, but it’s likely you’ll have to contact ICT. Their phone number is: 1800 SYD UNI (1800 793 864) option 3. From outside Australia: +61 2 8627 1444 (option 3). Or email them at
